A brazen solitude welcomes me at the door
No restraint or control,it runs amuck
To devour its patient prey
I refuse to capitulate
Despite my weakening stance
As I wriggle to set myself free
From its strengthening clutch
A whimper, a struggle, a brawl
Then a deafening silence
Followed by surrender
I tip toe into its usherance
Defenses down, battered, defeated.
Victorious and triumphant it celebrates
Yet another conquest
Yet another feat
Another delirium
Music fades away
Conversations mute on quivering lips
Shadows ebb away into the dark
There’s only one noise
Silence, submission, acceptance.
And then the pursuit begins
For another prey.
